David Scott, EDITOR

Based in North East England

I love editing.  It's all about telling stories and creating atmosphere - and doing so within a brief, often under time pressure, and to budget.  Understanding clearly what the client or producer is looking for and then pulling rabbits out of hats!  Selecting the right music, creating motion graphics, compositing and colour grading the footage - I love it all!  And my passion is hopefully evident in my commitment to a project and the quality of work I consistently produce.

I've had a varied career from farming, building and baking, to owning my own photography business and even a spot of grave digging!  It all adds to life's rich tapestry and helps me do a better job.

I began editing for broadcast ITC compliance on Beta tape in the late 90's, and since have worked on a variety of systems with experience of:  FCP, Avid, Premiere Pro, Quantel and Media 100.  I can work under pressure out on location with a laptop in another country, or in a full broadcast spec edit suite.

I create motion graphics and composite in Fusion and After Effects.

I colour grade in DaVinci Resolve Studio with a surface control, scopes and broadcast monitor.

I've worked on documentaries, music videos, chat shows, children's TV, interviews, drama, stadium rock events, inserts and promos.

I understand broadcast specification for programme delivery on tape or file, techy stuff like networking and edit suite diagnostics, and current social media delivery formats.  I'm also highly creative and enjoy experimental techniques where appropriate.

I'd be delighted to get involved in any level of project you have - from a day spent adding some gloss to an existing project for social media; to editing and creating motion graphics for a TV ad; to the full media management, editing and colour grading of a film or documentary series.
